Spy X Family

今日わ みんなさん、おげんきですか。レーシュ オーウェンです。 Spy Family is another very solid anime of this season. Spy x Family is about a Spy, Loid Forger, who for the sake of a mission must adopt a child, Anya Forger, and then proceeds to also marry Yor Forger for the sake of the mission. The particular twist is that Yor is an assassin and Anya is a telepath. The three of them live together, both parents unaware of the occupations of the other. The show does a great job of creating comedic moments out of the desire to prevent the discovery of their mission, however I do think that the time has come for them to unite as more of a family and actually work together. I feel that that particular trope has gone on a little too long. Much the same as in previous posts I have noticed increased awareness of grammatical structures and conversational expressions. Overall though spy family is a great show with one of my favorite voice actresses, Saori Hayami, playing Yor. Overall rating: 8.5/10

Monster

こんにちわ みんなさん、レーシュ オーウェンです。おげんきですか。 Monster is another fantastic anime. It deals with just how akin to monsters humans can be, and how even by trying to do the right thing the worst of outcomes may occur. It can definitely be slow at times, but for the show to work the slow pacing is necessary. The main character Tenma Kenzo is incredibly related, admirable, and human as protagonists come. The animation is nothing to write home about but this is largely due to the time in which the anime was produced rather than any deficiency of the producers themselves. Once again I saw very similar improvements in my understanding of normal speech. I also started to see more and more -te form verbs in use and while I did not necessarily recognize the verbs themselves I was able to recognize the forms. Overall I would definitely recommend this anime, however it falls lower on my list of recommended shows than others. Overall rating: 8.9/10

Mononoke

こんにちわ みんなーさん、 レーシュ オーウェンです。 Mononoke is a serious contender for my favorite anime of all time. I absolutely love the Ukiyo-e art style of the series as well as the absolutely brilliant directing. The anime is an absolute masterclass in vibe setting for lack of a better phrase, with the music, historical setting, dialogue, and characters meshing together to create a masterpiece. The stories themselves are each chilling, creative, and terrifying in their own right. I specifically noticed in an uptick in how many question words I was able to pick up throughout the show, which plays a critical role in the show for reasons I won't spoil. It was definitely cool seeing another uptick in my understanding. I would highly highly recommend this anime to anyone who has any interest in anime whatsoever. It is definitely on the obscure side, but it is a a hidden gem. My Rating: 10/10

Berserk

こんにち みんなさん、おげんきでsうか。 レーシュ オーウェンです。 Berserk is a very good anime. I have been watching the 1998 version as it apparently is much better than the modern remake. It is very easy to tell that it was animated in the nineties however it still stands up well today. I have been in the mood for some older animation and Berserk fit the bill perfectly. The story is a classic, and while being a bit intense and rough it is still a great watch. I have experienced the same degree of improved Japanese comprehension as I have in other shows. I have a fairly decent grasp of basic conversation however any increase in specificity quickly has me lost. While I am only halfway through the anime has been great so far and I would highly recommend it! Current rating: 9.5/10
