Mononoke is a serious contender for my favorite anime of all time. I absolutely love the Ukiyo-e art style of the series as well as the absolutely brilliant directing. The anime is an absolute masterclass in vibe setting for lack of a better phrase, with the music, historical setting, dialogue, and characters meshing together to create a masterpiece. The stories themselves are each chilling, creative, and terrifying in their own right. I specifically noticed in an uptick in how many question words I was able to pick up throughout the show, which plays a critical role in the show for reasons I won't spoil. It was definitely cool seeing another uptick in my understanding. I would highly highly recommend this anime to anyone who has any interest in anime whatsoever. It is definitely on the obscure side, but it is a a hidden gem.
